2 cups of fresh coconut meat
1 cup of water
Cheesecloth or a fine mesh strainer
A clean glass jar for storage

Instructions

Begin by removing the fresh coconut meat from the shell. Use a sharp knife to carefully cut the coconut and pry out the meat. Chop the meat into small pieces to facilitate blending.
In a blender, combine the chopped coconut meat with one cup of water. Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Once blended, prepare your cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer. Place it over a bowl or large jug. Pour the blended coconut mixture into the cheesecloth and squeeze out as much liquid as possible. This liquid is what we will use to extract the oil.
